Se trata de un sistema extremadamente preciso y complejo, cuyo cometido es crear una conexio\u0301n estructural ri\u0301gida y presurizada para permitir el paso entre dos naves tripuladas. Adema\u0301s, incluye conexiones para la transferencia de potencia ele\u0301ctrica, datos y fluidos como combustible.<\/p>\n<p>El disen\u0303o del IBDM es compatible con el esta\u0301ndar internacional de sistemas de acoplamiento (IDSS), y, consecuentemente, es compatible con los adaptadores de acoplamiento internacional (IDA) presentes en la seccio\u0301n estadounidense de la Estacio\u0301n Espacial Internacional (ISS). Durante la fase de proyecto se ha tenido en cuenta la posibilidad de modificar el sistema para ajustarlo a nuevos esta\u0301ndares de acoplamiento, por lo que cuenta la flexibilidad requerida para permitir la integracio\u0301n del IBDM en diferentes vehi\u0301culos. De hecho, gracias a su versatilidad, este sistema puede convertirse en un esta\u0301ndar para las misiones espaciales tripuladas en el futuro.<\/p>\n<p>Una de sus posibles aplicaciones es en la estacio\u0301n Gateway, sucesora de la Estacio\u0301n Espacial Internacional, cuya construccio\u0301n, en la que participa SENER Aeroespacial con cinco contratos diferentes, esta\u0301 prevista para 2025. Gateway se situara\u0301 en la o\u0301rbita lunar y servira\u0301 de punto estrate\u0301gico para expediciones espaciales lejanas, como un vuelo tripulado a Marte. Parte de ella sera\u0301 el I-HAB, un ha\u0301bitat para los astronautas que lleguen desde la Tierra, desarrollado por empresas miembros de la ESA. I-HAB previsiblemente ira\u0301 equipado con el sistema HCS desarrollado por SENER Aeroespacial.<\/p>\n<p>Los componentes principales del HCS desarrollado por SENER Aeroespacial (que es responsable del disen\u0303o, implementacio\u0301n, integracio\u0301n y prueba) son los siguientes:<\/p>\n<p>Tu\u0301nel del HCS, que confiere integridad estructural y contiene juntas, pasadores de alineacio\u0301n y sensores.<\/p>\n<p>Mecanismos de unio\u0301n estructural del HCS, con 12 unidades de enganche accionadas de forma independiente para lograr la compresio\u0301n de las juntas de estanqueidad y la precarga estructural de la interfaz.
