Ariel es la cuarta misi\u00f3n de clase media del programa Cosmic Vision de la ESA.<\/p>\n<p>Ariel estudiar\u00e1 la composici\u00f3n de los exoplanetas, c\u00f3mo se formaron y c\u00f3mo evolucionan, inspeccionando una muestra diversa de unos 1.000 planetas extrasolares en longitudes de onda visibles e infrarrojas. Es la primera misi\u00f3n dedicada a medir con precisi\u00f3n la composici\u00f3n qu\u00edmica y las estructuras t\u00e9rmicas de los exoplanetas en tr\u00e1nsito. El contrato est\u00e1 valorado en unos 200 millones de euros.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abAirbus cuenta con una amplia experiencia en la direcci\u00f3n de misiones cient\u00edficas pioneras, como JUICE, Gaia, Solar Orbiter, LISA Pathfinder y CHEOPS, en las que nos basamos para la \u00faltima misi\u00f3n cient\u00edfica de la ESA, Ariel\u00bb, dijo Jean-Marc Nasr, responsable de Airbus Space Systems.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abEn Airbus Toulouse, el mayor centro espacial de Europa, disponemos de todos los recursos, instalaciones y conocimientos para dise\u00f1ar, fabricar e integrar las naves espaciales y apoyar activamente a la ESA en el desarrollo de la carga \u00fatil. Airbus Stevenage est\u00e1 plenamente integrado en el equipo principal para la ingenier\u00eda de la avi\u00f3nica, la comunicaci\u00f3n por radiofrecuencia y el dise\u00f1o el\u00e9ctrico de la plataforma, como se prob\u00f3 con \u00e9xito para el desarrollo de Gaia\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Airbus liderar\u00e1 el consorcio industrial europeo con m\u00e1s de 60 contratos para la construcci\u00f3n del sat\u00e9lite y aportar\u00e1 su experiencia y apoyo a la ESA para el desarrollo del m\u00f3dulo de carga \u00fatil.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abCon este hito de la misi\u00f3n Ariel celebramos la continuaci\u00f3n de la excelente relaci\u00f3n con nuestros socios industriales para mantener a Europa en la vanguardia de la excelencia en el campo de la investigaci\u00f3n de exoplanetas hasta bien entrada la pr\u00f3xima d\u00e9cada y m\u00e1s all\u00e1\u00bb, dijo G\u00fcnther Hasinger, Director de Ciencia de la ESA.<\/p>\n<p>Se han identificado m\u00e1s de 5.000 exoplanetas desde la primera observaci\u00f3n en 1995, pero se sabe poco sobre la composici\u00f3n qu\u00edmica de sus atm\u00f3sferas. Las misiones cient\u00edficas espaciales existentes est\u00e1n proporcionando resultados sobre los exoplanetas (como CHEOPS, construida por Airbus para la ESA), pero Ariel ser\u00e1 la primera misi\u00f3n dedicada al estudio de las atm\u00f3sferas de un gran n\u00famero de exoplanetas, incluyendo la determinaci\u00f3n de los principales componentes atmosf\u00e9ricos y la caracterizaci\u00f3n de las nubes. Las observaciones de estos mundos permitir\u00e1n conocer las primeras etapas de la formaci\u00f3n planetaria y atmosf\u00e9rica, as\u00ed como su posterior evoluci\u00f3n, contribuyendo a su vez a la comprensi\u00f3n de nuestro propio Sistema Solar. Podr\u00edan ayudarnos a averiguar si hay vida en otros lugares de nuestro universo y si existe otro planeta como la Tierra.<\/p>\n<p>La misi\u00f3n se centrar\u00e1 en los planetas c\u00e1lidos y calientes, desde las supertierras hasta los gigantes gaseosos que orbitan cerca de sus estrellas madre, aprovechando sus atm\u00f3sferas bien mezcladas para descifrar su composici\u00f3n en general.<\/p>\n<p>Tras su lanzamiento, en 2029 con un lanzador Ariane 6, Ariel ser\u00e1 inyectado en una trayectoria de transferencia directa al segundo punto de Lagrange (L2). Gracias a su dise\u00f1o t\u00e9rmico y mec\u00e1nico muy estable, la nave podr\u00e1 realizar observaciones a largo plazo del mismo sistema planeta\/estrella durante una duraci\u00f3n de entre 10 horas hasta tres d\u00edas. Su misi\u00f3n durar\u00e1 cuatro a\u00f1os, con una posible pr\u00f3rroga de al menos dos a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<p>Airbus fue el contratista principal de la misi\u00f3n CHEOPS de la ESA.
