En una complicada y milim\u00e9trica operaci\u00f3n de gr\u00faa en el centro de integraci\u00f3n de sat\u00e9lites de Airbus en Friedrichshafen (Alemania), se integr\u00f3 la estructura del sat\u00e9lite de seis metros de altura con su sistema de propulsi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>El sistema de propulsi\u00f3n, construido por Airbus en Stevenage (Reino Unido), puede acomodar 760 kg de combustible de hidracina para mantener la posici\u00f3n y la \u00f3rbita durante toda su misi\u00f3n y, lo que es m\u00e1s importante, permitir una reentrada controlada sobre el Pac\u00edfico Sur al final de la vida del sat\u00e9lite, de acuerdo con las normas internacionales de mitigaci\u00f3n de la basura espacial. El sistema de propulsi\u00f3n incluye doce propulsores de 20 Newton (N) cada uno para las maniobras de \u00f3rbita nominal y anticolisi\u00f3n. Por \u00faltimo, el tanque y el motor principal de 400 N completan el sistema de propulsi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>El programa MetOp-SG est\u00e1 siendo implementado por la Agencia Espacial Europea en colaboraci\u00f3n con EUMETSAT. La flota de sat\u00e9lites MetOp-SG consta de seis sat\u00e9lites y garantizar\u00e1 la continuaci\u00f3n de las observaciones meteorol\u00f3gicas desde una \u00f3rbita polar en el periodo 2024-2045. Los datos completos del conjunto de instrumentos europeos innovadores alimentar\u00e1n a los modelos de predicci\u00f3n, llevando las observaciones a un nuevo nivel.<\/p>\n<p>Cada sat\u00e9lite, con una masa de lanzamiento por encima de las cuatro toneladas, se lanzar\u00e1 por separado. Los sat\u00e9lites se situar\u00e1n en la \u00f3rbita polar helios\u00edncrona MetOp, a una altitud media de 831 kil\u00f3metros. La vida nominal de cada sat\u00e9lite es de 7,5 a\u00f1os. Tras siete a\u00f1os, se lanzar\u00e1 el siguiente sat\u00e9lite de la misma serie, lo que garantizar\u00e1 una cobertura operativa completa durante un periodo de 21 a\u00f1os con una pareja de sat\u00e9lites de tipo A y B siempre en \u00f3rbita.<\/p>\n<p>El primer lanzamiento de un sat\u00e9lite MetOp-SG est\u00e1 previsto actualmente para principios de 2024.<\/p>\n<p>MetOp-SG proporcionar\u00e1 sondeos mejorados de temperatura y humedad por infrarrojos, microondas y radio-ocultaci\u00f3n; vectores de movimiento atmosf\u00e9rico polar extra\u00eddos de im\u00e1genes \u00f3pticas; nuevas mediciones de precipitaciones y nubes a partir de im\u00e1genes en los espectros \u00f3ptico, submilim\u00e9trico y de microondas; y mediciones de alta resoluci\u00f3n del vector del viento en la superficie del oc\u00e9ano y de la humedad del suelo extra\u00eddas de observaciones con dispers\u00f3metros. Estos datos ayudar\u00e1n a mejorar la predicci\u00f3n num\u00e9rica del tiempo &#8211; la columna vertebral de nuestras previsiones meteorol\u00f3gicas diarias &#8211; a nivel regional y global.<\/p>\n<p>MetOp-SG comprende dos series de sat\u00e9lites, con tres unidades en cada serie. La serie de sat\u00e9lites A lleva instrumentos \u00f3pticos y sondas atmosf\u00e9ricas, mientras que la serie de sat\u00e9lites B cuenta con instrumentos de microondas.
