Durante su presentaci\u00f3n, Josef Aschbacher, director de observaci\u00f3n de la Tierra de la ESA, y Pierre Delsaux, director general adjunto de Industria de Defensa y Espacio (DG DEFIS) de la Comisi\u00f3n Europea, explicaron que la plataforma \u201cpermite monitorizar par\u00e1metros ambientales y en las actividades econ\u00f3micas y humanas, incluidas la industria, el transporte, la construcci\u00f3n, el tr\u00e1fico y la productividad agr\u00edcola\u201d. Y presentaron ejemplos de c\u00f3mo RACE permite hacer un seguimiento de las concentraciones medias de di\u00f3xido de nitr\u00f3geno en las distintas regiones del mundo, utilizando los datos proporcionados por el sat\u00e9lite Sentinel -5P, y de c\u00f3mo se puede monitorizar el tr\u00e1fico a\u00e9reo en el aeropuerto de Barcelona o detectar los cambios en la producci\u00f3n de autom\u00f3viles en Alemania. <\/p>\n<p>Aschbacher afirm\u00f3 que \u201cEuropa cuenta con unas excelentes y avanzad\u00edsimas capacidades de observaci\u00f3n de la Tierra, y que es un placer ponerlas la servicio de los ciudadanos europeos y del resto del mundo. Y durante los pr\u00f3ximos meses RACE se ir\u00e1 expandiendo  para monitorizar lugares adicionales de Europea y se enriquecer\u00e1 con nuevos datos de los sat\u00e9lites Copernicus y de misiones de terceros\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>Por su parte Pierre Delsaux destac\u00f3 el enorme potencial y la versatilidad del programa espacial de la UE y su contribuci\u00f3n a \u201cnuestras ambiciones de una Europa verde, flexible y moderna. El Espacio es un sector estrat\u00e9gico para la UE, para nuestra resiliencia y para nuestra econom\u00eda estrat\u00e9gica.
